Our Story
Hello and welcome to our colorful, sometimes messy (our 6 kiddos hang out here), and ever-changing crafting supply warehouse! We are known locally as the “Big White Building” at the end of the dead-end lane located in the middle of pasture, forest, and ponds in beautiful SE Kansas, and are loving everything about that!
How it Started
It all began in 2008 when I (Kristi) decided to launch a small at-home company around some of my greatest passions: DIY crafting, designing anything and everything, and accessorizing my new baby daughter! I had dabbled in making hair-bows after my daughter, Noelle, was born, and with the new phenomenon of shopping on-line just starting to become reality, was excited to discover that I could find just as many (if not more) hair-bow ribbons and supplies online as I could in the large crafting stores.
Fueled by my love of vibrant colors and armed with design experience from my college studies in architectural design, interior design, and graphic design, I ventured into my own small on-line product offering with basic ribbons, hardware blanks, and a few other odds and ends, hoping to sell enough to prop up my crafting hobby. We (my husband and a small number of employees joined me within a year) were so grateful as customers grew to love the quality and selection of our products and we were able to keep adding new product to the mix. Over the years, the product offering has blossomed into many thousands of unique items and continues to evolve and grow along with the trending fashions and input from you, our talented crafting community.
From our humble origin in a spare bedroom which then overflowed into and completely took over the basement (oh, and most of the garage), the HairBow Center has seen many changes and growth spurts starting with a 6500 square foot warehouse constructed in 2010. We filled and eventually outgrew that space, despite my husband thinking it would never be possible (not that he didn’t believe in the business, but it was SO much space compared to our basement!). And so construction began again on a large warehouse addition completed in 2021.
Where we Are
Today you can find HBC products on many different online selling platforms including Walmart, Etsy, Michael’s, Amazon, and our site at www.hairbowcenter.com. We continue to look forward to the mission ahead of continuing to exceed our customers' expectations through innovative web technology, unique product offerings, a wealth of fun crafting tutorials and videos (The Ribbon Retreat is our sister company and has amazing YouTube video tutorials!), and striving for excellence in the quality of our products and our service to our customers!
